Education/Internship Opportunities:
Site Description
SEA Education Association A fabulous semester at sea program, also has high school courses.
Darling Marine Center The Darling Marine Center is the site of world renowned marine research. Has opportunities for internships and gives publication lists for research.
Shoals Marine Laboratory on Appledore Island Info about fabulous research-based summer courses offered through Cornell that can be taken over the summer. Credits can transfer back to URI and provides good financial aid.
Marine Careers Page Site talks about the different marine careers out there and gives descriptions of each one.
New England Aquarium Cool internship opportunities, and an all around fun site- you can even watch live video of the giant ocean tank or the penguins!

Fishery Management Councils:

Site Description
Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commision Gives info about ASMFC and provides fact sheets and other information about programs that they are involved in.
New England Fishery Management Council Provides easy access to information about the NEFMC and provides descriptions of the species they manage. Gives management plans and reports.
Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council Site gives species managed lists and management plans, along with meeting schedules and publications for the MAFMC.

Fishbase Here's a site where you can look up and get basic information for most of the fish in the world, including habitat, feeding habits, reproduction, and coloration.
The Lobster Institute "A research and educational entity designed to conduct scientific investigation on and provide information about the American Lobster in order to help conserve and enhance the resource, and ensure the continuance of a strong and healthy lobster industry in Maine and the region."
NMFS Alaska Regional Office Information about what NMFS is doing in Alaska, has species, research, and news to read up on.
Alaska Fisheries Science Center "The mission of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center is to generate scientific information necessary for the conservation, management, and utilization of the region's living marine resources. Gives info on stock reports, internships, research, and mgmt programs."

Center for Marine Conservation "As the largest and oldest organization dedicated solely to protecting the oceans, the Ocean Conservancy combines science-based advocacy, grassroots activism, litigation, education and outreach to find lasting solutions to issues affecting our oceans and all marine life."
