Minutes: December 2nd
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
It sounds like people were able to make the most of it by going rock climbing, playing football, hiking in the Great Swamp, and in Maine, and of course eating food and catching up on much needed sleep.
Election results are in! Steve Malen is the new publicist (in charge of recruitment). Joe Attwater is the new Treasurer, Ben Berry is the new Vice President. LAst and definitely not least is Bridget Griffith as the President. Congratulations to all!
The Gingerbread house will be judged on Wednesday and Thursday in the MU. Come by and vote for your favorite one (aka ours!!!). It is by popular vote so bring a friend or two as well if we really want to win this. The winner will be announced on Thursday at 6pm in the ballroom.
Next weekend, December 13 and 14, Paige will be leading a trip to the Berkshires. It will be an overnight trip, and you will only have to carry your stuff about 2 miles into the campsite. They will leave early Saturday morning, set up camp, hike, eat, sleep, eat, hike, take down camp, and come home on Sunday evening/night. If you are intersted, contact Paige at nodoubtaboutit9@yahoo.com. More info to come next week at our meeting.
Tyler will be leading a trip as well. This will be on Wednesday December 10th. They will be going to the Norman Bird Sanctuary. It is a realxing hike along the coast and through some woods. It is about a 30 min drive and they will be leaving at 11am from Ronzio's. Keep in mind that this is a reading day and you do not have class.
On the same day, Wednesday December 10, the outing club will be having a clean up/organize/inventory event. We will be cleaning, organizing, fixing, and inventorying all of our gear. We will start at 6pm at our office and then move to a room to work in that will be announced later. We will be purchasing pizza for those that participate.
Next spring we will be having workshops on random skills you may have. These will range from how to make a stove to how to belay and set up anchors for top roping. The idea now is to have these once a week. So think about what your skill is that you can contribute!
The Outing Club got some new gear this weekend. It includes some new nalgenes, tent repair, water proofing, maps, books, an ATC, a figure 8, and 4 locking carabiners. If you ever have any ideas for get let us know and we can see what we can do!
We have a calendar order form so you can order your calendars. The last day to order them will be next Tuesday and money must be in by then as well! YOu can stop by the office anytime to place your order.
One last thing. Corey is wondering if anyone would be interested in a climbing group here in RI for over the winter break. Just to group to go rock climbing at the RIRG during the winter break. If you are interested in this, contact Corey at corey_morrissey@mail.uri.edu.
Reminder, go vote for our gingerbread house!
Have a great week!
