Minutes: November 4th
Good evening fellow voters,
This past weekend was full of Halloween mischief! Paige was able to go swimming…OUTSIDE!!! And today's hike to arcadia was splendid.
We will be going rock climbing on Friday, November 7th, in Newport RI of all places. We will be meeting at Ronzio's at 3pm and leaving by 3:20. No experience is required, we will show you the ropes (literally)! If you have gear please bring it along, if not, we will supply what we have. Remember sharing is caring.
There will be a trip to Mt. Monadnock this weekend. We are excited.
Our idea of a fundraiser is a calendar and is in full swing. Ben, Killian, and Jimmy will be spear tackling that obstacle so we can get them ordered as soon as we decide on the pictures. If you have photos for the calendar, submit them by November 19th. Also, in the coming weeks we will be taking a general survey at one of our meetings. Just to see how everyone feels about how the outing club is being run and so on and so forth.
In early December there is a Gingerbread house building competition open to all the clubs. We will enter a team (2-3 people) and WIN! If you are interested in being on the team or have a design for the house (or tent or whatnot), come to next week's meeting. Materials will be supplied.
We found out that it is free to have an ad in the Cigar once a week. An idea that was thrown out was that we should write testimonials. Steve will be writing the first and if you want to write a testimonial, let us know!
Jack Warner, who is in charge of the higher education commission, will be in the ballroom November 5th, at 5:30 pm. This is about the rising costs of tuition. If you are interested, be there.
Next weekend we are going to Block Island. There will be groups going on both days. We will organize it all next week. Come! It is a fun easy day hike around the island.
Our vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner will be November 20th. Cooking will begin at 4pm in Eddy's kitchen and dinner will be at 6pm in Eddy Hall's conference room. There will be a sign up sheet for who is bringing what at the next meeting.
Punch passes are now free! This is if you are an active member of the URI outing club. You are allowed to get one a week so that we do not run out of passes right away.
Our OC elections will be on December 2nd for officers next semester. To run you must be nominated and seconded. If you are interested in shadowing an of the officers to find out what we do, just let us know. On election day, you will give a speech about yourself and why you should be elected.
Our next meeting will be on WEDNESDAY, November 12th at 5:30. This is because Tuesday classes will be held on Wednesday because there is no school on Tuesday. I'll see you all then!
Michael Bly
VP of the OC
