Meetings

Minutes: October 7th

This week's meeting began with a recap of the weekend. Members were able to go canoeing, biking, climbing at the RIRG, and participate in the making of caramel apples. Way to go group!

On Monday, Bridget and I had a meeting with some members of the student senate and presented our whole sphiel about how we should be a level 2 group compared to a level 3 group. The main difference is that we are open to the whole student body and we are a teaching group. We were voted on by the small group and the vote was 5-0 for the change! The bill will go in front of the whole senate with in a couple weeks. If it is passed, we will be working on formulating a budget for next year. We will keep you updated!

Talking about updates, check out our finally updated website at: http://www.uri.edu/student_organizations/outing/

Thank you Hans!

The trip to arcadia is not happening this week since no one was interested. We will cancel our reservations. On Wednesday we will be out on the quad slack lining at 3pm. Come join, give it a try, or just talk. We will be there for a while! This Thursday there is a group of people going to the Rhode Island Rock Gym and will be leaving around 7. If you are interested contact Nick O'Brien at: neodrummer@cox.net.

Future trips! We are going to Mt. Monadnock early November. Probably from the 8-9th. It is a car camping trip and Saturday morning we would hike up the mountain and then leave. Come to meetings to get more info.

A trip was mentioned a while ago about volunteering at an organic farm. Valerie is organizing this and informed us that the best weekend for this is the 17and 18th. We would go there, help out, camp for the night, and then help out some more. If you are interested in this, come to the meeting next week to find out when we will leave.

We are also going to go on a Block Island Day hike. This trip is open to all, whether you have paid your dues or not. The date is not set as of yet come and voice your opinions.

Overall, this meeting was full of brainstorming. Here are a list of idea, hiking at Tri Pond (down 138 by the Pump House) lead by Eric, tree climbing, Mt Katahdin (probably in the spring), going to a member's house by the White mountains for hiking and skiing, bouldering at Lincoln Woods, and ice climbing with the RIRG. We will talk about these ideas at the next meeting. Lets try and make some of these words turn into some adeventures!

This was a great meeting!

Go climb a tree,

Michael Bly
