Minutes: September 9th
Hello to all,
Today's meeting was AMAZING! It was great to see everyone that showed up, we had over 50 people there!
So here are the minutes from today's meeting:
We started off with an introduction of the officers. Bridget Griffith is the president, Michael Bly is the Vice President, and Steve Malen is the Treasurer.
This is The URI Outing Club. We camp, hike, climb, bike, basically if you want to do it, we can help.
Next we had a recap of people's summer adventures and then we started talking about upcoming trips. Things we are planning are Arcadia this weekend, Apple Orchard this Saturday the 13th, a day hike to Block Island, an overnight to Mount Monadnock, go backpacking up Greylock during Columbus Day weekend, and a organic farm adventure.

Other ideas that were brought up were rock climbing, sky diving, kayaking, and a day hike to the Norman Bird Sanctuary. If anyone wants to take charge of one of these trips that would be great.
Im sure that we could get a group of people together for skydiving and get a good group rate, someone just has to take some initiative and do some research. Anyone can do it, just let the club know what you are planning.
There is a membership fee to be in the outing club. It is $15. This allows you to go on any outing club trips and us any of our gear.
Also if you would like to borrow some gear for a period of time you are allow to do this, all you have to do is check it out of the office when an officer is in there.
You are not supposed to go on trips if you are not a member. This money goes towards new gear so that we accommodate more people, fix old gear, and new "toys" to increase our inventory so we can do new/more things.
If you would like to bring a guest on a trip there will be a small fee if the use of outing club gear is involved.
We do sell punch passes to the Rhode Island Rock Gym located in Lincoln, RI. To get your name on the list it costs $5 and each pass from then on is $2. Currently we do not have any passes, but we should have them within the next 2 weeks.
There is a fair outside the union on Wednesday, September 17th. We will have a booth there so dont be afraid to stop by and say "Hi".

Next meeting will be Sept. 16th at 5:30 in the union somewhere. Just check the computer screen by the information desk as to where it will be. We are going to try to find a large room and then we will let you know where it is.
