New Member FAQ:

Q: WHAT IS THE OUTING CLUB EXACTLY?

A: The Outing Club is a student organization run by students and is funded by the Student Senate. We do a wide range of activities such as hiking, backpacking, climbing, bouldering, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, apple picking, and stargazing. Pretty much we do any activity that's outside.

Q: DOES MEMBERSHIP REQUIRE COMMITMENT?

A: Your level of involvement with the Outing Club is entirely up to you. Although we encourage everyone to come on as many trips as they can, many of our members prefer to stay in touch with email and go on the occasional trip when they have the time. Of course, if you have tons of free time on your hands, we can give you something to do almost every weekend.

Q: HOW DO I GET ON THE EMAIL LIST?

A: Simple send an e-mail to urioutingclub@gmail.com and send us your name and e-mail and let us know you want to be added to the mailing list. That's all there is to it!

Q: WHEN ARE THE MEETINGS?

A: Check the Meetings section for information on meetings. But in case you are too lazy. They are every Tuesday at 5:30pm in room 318 of the Memorial Union.

Q: I DON'T HAVE ANY CAMPING OR CLIMBING EXPERIENCE.

A: You don't need any camping experience to be in the Outing Club. After all, the only way to gain camping experience is to go camping. Members here have varied experience in different activities and we benefit from their knowledge.
