URISSLHA

What is URISSLHA?

URISSLHA stands for University of Rhode Island Student Speech Language Hearing Association and is a chapter of NSSLHA, the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. Student members have an opportunity to learn from each other by sharing their experiences and knowledge while participating in educational, social, and community service projects. URISSLHA is open to all students of the University of Rhode Island who study or are interested in studying communicative disorders.

Benefits of Joining URISSHLA

Becoming a member of URISSHLA will enable you to meet other students interested in the field of communicative disorders. It will also give you the opportunity to talk with professors outside of the classroom, receive advice, and hear professional opinions about controvercial matters. URISSHLA has organized study groups for each undergraduate class, meetings and presentations that address areas of the field, and allows students to learn about the process of applying to graduate school.

As of Fall 2004, URISSLHA will be creating a library containing various professional journals, magazines, articles, and other literature pertaining to the fields. This library will be available to all undergraduate and graduate students majoring in communicative disorders, speech-langauge pathology, and audiology.

URISSLHA also participates annually in the MS Walk sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. You can find out more information about the MS Walk at http://www.nationalmssociety.org/MS%20Walk.asp.

In Spring 2005, URISSLHA will also be holding our Spring Formal on April 23. For more information, see our invitation or contact Kristina DelSesto at kmmd2002@aol.com. Tickets will be sold by all members on the Executive Board.
