Mens Awards
Mens Awards
The Huckbuddy Awards are five awards bestowed upon the most deserving male and female players at URI at the end of each year...
The 'Petros' Award, named after former URI player ('97-'01) and coach ('03-'05) Jeff Petros, recognizes the best all-around player at URI both on and off the field; criteria for the award includes hussle on the field, patience teaching newbies, contributions to running the team, and the ability to party like a rock star... all while maintaining 'good' grades and looking drop dead gorgeous.
The 'Bradley' Award, named after the Godfather of URI Ultimate, Mike Bradley, recognizes the player that improves the most from September to May, in terms of both on the field play and necessary college social skills.
The 'Nolte' Award, named in honor of former player Eirik 'Nolte' Allee, is awarded to the player who not only makes the most successful bids for the disc, but makes them look oh-so-pretty while in-flight. Like Nolte, they may also display a propensity for humping nearby players.
The 'Feldman' Award, named after former URI player and captain Ian Feldman, known for his boisterous cries of "I lika da RIUT!" is awarded to the player who shows the most support while on the sideline in terms of making up-calls, talking to Zone D, and shouting generally absurd words of support.
The 'Leroux' Award, named after former player Jay Leroux is awarded to the player who hussles, bids, and works harder than anyone else on defense. Like Jay, they may often end up with bloody knees as a result of laying out in icy conditions.
