Chapter Meeting We will have a chapter meeting on Wednesday, March 22nd 2006 at the conclusion of the Interview/Resume workshop in MCC Computer Lab. SMILE Program SMILE (Science and Math in an Investigative Learning Environment) is an after school science program for kids in grades 6-12 in schools all over RI. SMILE targets students from groups traditionally underrepresented in science, engineering and math careers. Each year, SMILE hosts an "Engineering Challenge" weekend at URI to build some open ended engineering design project. Engineering student volunteers are needed to help mentor teams of the 4-8 kids as they work through their design. No prior mentoring experience or advanced engineering course are necessary; just an interest in helping others. This year, the SMILE engineering challenge will be to build a crane from every day objects. Sign up is in the SMILE Office Basement of Roosevelt Hall room #1. Return to Top |
