Academic Affairs Committee Meetings:
Meeting Time: TBD
Memorial Union, Room TBD
Chairperson: Ethan Zawatsky
The Academic Affairs committee is focused on academic student life. Some issues the committee deals with include educational standards & requirements, library services, course registration & availability, grading, tuition, students rights, the URI conduct system and faculty evaluations.
In addition, the committee works to raise awareness about academic rights and responsibilities, including exam period rights, academic honesty policies, and academic disciplinary procedures.
The committee works to foster relationships between students and faculty / administrators, by hosting events which provide opportunities to interact with faculty, department chairs, and college deans. In addition, the committee collaborates with the URI Foundation to solicit student nominations of faculty and administrators for recognition at the annual Excellence Awards.
AAC keeps records of URI's currently recognized academic honor societies and the requirements for induction, and works with departments to create new opportunities for societies on campus.
The Academic Affairs Chair works with the office of the Provost to communicate student issues to the administration and create new programs and initiatives to enhance URI's academic life.
Academic Affairs also runs the Collegiate Readership Program, which provides free newspapers to students around campus.
