Directions to the Kingston Campus
Access by Car
From the north, take I-95 south to Exit 9 (Route 4 south) IN RHODE ISLAND, follow Route 4
to Route 1 south. Stay on Route 1 until the intersection of Route 138 west. Route 138 west will bring you to the
University.
From the south, take I-95 north to Exit 3A (Route 138 east). Continue east on Route 138 to the
University.
From Newport, follow Route 138 west over the Newport and Jamestown bridges to Route 1. Take Route 1 south to Route
138 west. Follow Route 138 west to the University.
Directions to the Providence Campus
The URI Feinstein Providence Campus is located at 80 Washington Street, Providence, in the historic Shepard
Building.
Access by Bus
During the day, Kennedy Plaza is the hub for all RIPTA buses to and from downtown Providence. Request further
information at the URI Providence Information Center, Room 125, or call RIPTA directly at 1-800-244-0444 or 781-9400 (7:00AM-7:00PM,
Monday-Saturday). TDD 401-784-9599.
Access by Car
Heading north on I-95: Exit 22A (Downtown). Take right at light onto Francis Street and next right onto West
Exchange Street to Convention Center Garage (North or South Garage).
Heading south on I-95: Exit 22A (Downtown). Go straight
through light and follow Memorial Boulevard. At next light, take right onto Exchange Street and another right to Exchange Terrace,
straight ahead to Convention Center Garage (North or South Garage).
From Route 6: Take the Dean Street exit, bear left and
take first right onto West Exchange Street and into Convention Center Garage (North or South Garage).
Parking: URI offers parking for enrolled students in Kingston and in Providence.
Parking at the Kingston Campus
The Kingston campus has a number of student lots available. We suggest
that you enter the Kingston campus at the junction of Route 138 and Upper College Road, at the traffic light. You will find the
campus Information Center on your right after the first intersection on Upper College Road. Parking information and detailed campus
maps are available online.
Parking at the Providence Campus
Student parking in Providence is at the RI Convention Center Garage
North Garage. For your first class meeting, go to the RI Convention Center north garage, pull a paper ticket and bring it with you to
the Student Lounge. Session-long passes will be issued during the first week of classes (11:30AM-1:00PM and 5:00-7:00PM) in the
Student Lounge. Bring a receipt or bill to verify enrollment. After the first week of classes students who register, add or drop
classes should go to the RI Convention Center Office (Ground Floor/North Garage) with documentation, to obtain or return a parking
pass. URI also has limited parking on class nights, only after 5:00PM, Monday through Thursday, at the Garrahy Court House Parking
Lot. This secured lot has a shuttle to and from evening classes, and this shuttle also services the North and South Garage of the RI
Convention Center. All parking information is listed on the Providence campus homepage.
Handicapped Parking
In Kingston: Follow the directions to the Information Booth and ask for the
location of Handicapped parking spaces in each lot.
