We encourage you to sign up for as many events as you can—each event offers a unique opportunity to learn, write, and connect to other writers in and beyond your community.
**Please note that there is discounted conference pricing if you sign up for both Part I and Part II of the conference. See the discounted price below.**
Conference Part I: Intensive Workshops
Fee: $125; $100 for students with valid ID and URI Faculty and Staff (please see note on student rate below)
Our workshops meet twice for two-and-a-half hours each session: Thursday June, 18 from 1-3:30pm and Friday June, 19 from 9-11:30am. Our workshops are led by an outstanding faculty member and are limited to a small group so that each workshop member has an intimate, productive experience. There are several workshops offered in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Please see a more detailed description of our workshops here.
Conference Part II: Craft Seminars, Publishing & Writing Panels
Fee: $135; $55 for students with valid ID and URI Faculty and Staff (please see note on student rate below)
Part II of the conference begins Friday afternoon with the invocation and keynote address at 12pm, and runs through the remainder of the conference ending with the conference attendee reading on Saturday evening. During this portion of the conference you’ll be able to attend panel discussion and craft seminars on poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and publishing. You will also be able to attend each of our readings including the three keynote addresses scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Please see a more detailed description of our panel discussions, craft seminars, and readings here.
When you sign up by June 14th for Part I ($125) and Part II ($135) you pay only $245.
Each mentorship is a twenty-minute personal meeting with one of our distinguished faculty members. You will be required to submit a manuscript, no more than 10 pages or 5 poems long, by June 10, 2009. Upon registering for a mentorship you will be assigned a time and mentor. When assigning mentors we will consider genre and specific requests, though we cannot promise to honor all such requests. Please see a more detailed description of our mentorships here.
Friday Night Cocktail and Dinner Reception
Friday June 19 there will be a formal cocktail reception followed by a buffet dinner at the University Club on the University of Rhode Island campus. The dinner will be followed by a reading given by five of our conference faculty members. This is a great time to meet our faculty in an informal setting and to enjoy the company of fellow writers. Please see a more detailed description of the dinner reception here.
