URI's Property & Support Services Department consists of Property & Inventory, Federal Property, Receiving, Postal Services, and Printing Services. All five units are located off Plains Rd. in the University's Service Sector and combine staff and students in a work force involved in most University activities from delivery of new computers to computer assisted design of floor plans to moving the contents of entire buildings to creating technical reports for senior administrators. A sampling of each unit's activities follows:

Property & Inventory: These folks utilize a complex database to track all University equipment and space, handling state and federal audits, inventories and disposals of equipment large and small, as well as the development and delivery of space floor plans and on-demand data reports from an INSITE database.

Receiving: Trailers back up to our loading dock and our forklift operators unload and break down shipments into smaller lots so that deliveries in smaller vehicles support our shift to a pedestrian friendly campus. All special events (from a Student Activities event on the quad to Graduation) are supported from Receiving with deliveries of tables, chairs, podiums, ferns and flowers to campus and off campus locations daily. University surplus and disposals are processed here, as well as shredding of confidential materials from all campus departments.

Postal Services: Our staff and students sort and deliver your mail to all four campus locations; process in-house all classes of USPS mail and FedEX packages (domestic and international); and provide daily courier service to state offices (as well as special on-demand services for time critical deliveries state-wide).

Printing Services: From business cards to department stationary and envelopes to multicolor brochures, they do it all for University departments as well as other state agencies in a fast, efficient fashion.

Work Orders: Everything starts with a completed work order available under Forms.

Computers are recycled within the URI community as well.

Our sole business is service and we welcome your feedback at matteson@uri.edu.
