Down to earth, up to us
Down
to Earth, Up to Us is an organization comprised of students
interested in sustainable practice at URI. The purpose of the organization
is
to engage the local community in concrete actions
that evidence principles of sustainability.

Examples
of activities include:
- Designing and posting of stickers promoting
reduced energy use and recycling:
- Investigating energy use and research
on how to promote the use of green energy on campus. Kaytee Manchester,
a
junior
majoring
in Engineering
and Adam Memon, a sophomore Biology major, are heading up this
effort. Already equipped with a donated solar panel, these two are
setting
out to teach students, visitors to campus, and sixth graders about
alternative energy. Kaytee is a National Wildlife Federation Fellow
and has also received financial support from Shaw's Supermarket.
Meetings are held on Wednesdays at 5:30 in 116 Woodward and are
open to all interested in sustainable practice.
