Sustainability Minor - Curriculum development
Our overarching goal is to create a minor that will
grow into courses and programs that engage students in the most compelling
issue of the
21st century and ultimately ensure that students leave this university
with a commitment to sustainable practices as private citizens and
professionals. Faculty from across a wide variety of disciplines
are participating in an emerging
program to develop a minor at URI in sustainability, which is broadly
defined to include the triad of environment, social equity and economics.
This initiative is funded by both the U.S. Department of Education
and most recently by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
We invite proposals from URI faculty and staff for small
grants of up to $2,000 for the development of new courses or for the
enhancement of current courses that will contribute to a rich curriculum
in support of an interdisciplinary minor in sustainability.
