Mission Statement
The mission of the Talent Development Program (TD) at the University of Rhode Island is to recruit, support, and retain students of color and disadvantaged students from in-state. TD was created in response to the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968. In keeping with Dr. King's dream, our mission is to ensure that deserving people, however excluded by historic oppression and life experiences, sit at the table of opportunity. Our mission takes us to high schools, and both community and faith based agencies throughout the state to recruit students. We provide academic programs for University admission and retention. The TD program tirelessly builds a University community to support committed scholars who are the future of our state and our nation.
