Held in the spring before students enter the Summer Program, this mandatory event prepares students for a successful transition to the University of Rhode Island (URI). During the Preparatory Program (PREP), students review and select Summer Program courses, receive information about New Student Orientation, learn about housing contracts and meal plan options, and review financial aid. Talent Development (TD) also offers a special Parent PREP breakout session for parent(s)/guardian(s).

Students take one week of coursework in writing, computing and library services, and career development followed by a five-week session in which students take three University-credited courses (eight to ten college credits). Content- and skills-based tutoring is provided.
In addition to other requirements, students must pass ALL classes with a minimum C (2.00) GPA with passing grades in all classes to successfully complete the Summer Program and enter URI as a member of the TD Nation. TD finances the cost of tuition, fees, housing, meals, and books. Click here for a list of things to bring this summer.
