Writing Tutor Positions for Summer 2009

Talent Development is currently seeking qualified applicants for Summer 2009 Writing Tutors.

5 or 6 Positions are anticipated.

Qualifications

Earned Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred or College Senior Status (90 earned credits) as of June 2009 required with writing tutoring training or formal experience. BA/BS strongly preferred. Previous teaching or tutoring experience required. College Writing Center tutoring experience strongly preferred. Experience with varied racial and ethnic populations strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Tutoring support for two sections of Writing 100. One-to-one instruction and small group tutoring based on on-going coursework.

Dates and Hours

  • Tutor Training: Monday, June 15, 9 am - 11 am
  • Staff Orientation: Thursday, June 18, 2009, 9 am to 4 pm
  • Week 1: Monday, June 22 through Thursday, June 25, 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm
  • Week 2: Monday, June 29 through Tuesday, June 30, 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm
  • Week 3: Tuesday, July 7 through Thursday, July 9, 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm
  • Weeks 4-6: Sunday, July 12 through Tuesday, July 28
    • Sundays, 6-9 pm
    • Mondays, 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm
    • Tuesdays, 2-5 and 6-9 pm

Salary

  • $2700; this includes paid staff orientation and training.
