Walk-In Advising

University College's "Walk-in Advising" provides access to advisors for quick general questions. A UC professional advisor along with advising interns are available on a walk-in basis every day from 9:00 - 11:30AM and 1 - 3:00PM in Room 108 Roosevelt Hall. UC Advisors should not be a replacement for your content advisors. However, they are available to answer general questions such as.

  • General Education Information
  • Registration information
  • Adding/Dropping a course
  • Second Grade Option information
  • Transfer credit and Prior Approval
  • Taking summer courses
  • Internship or Study Abroad questions
  • Withdrawals/Leaves of Absence

Advising Interns

 

The University College Advising Intern is a fellow student who has probably experienced many of the issues you face as a new member of the university community. Advising interns are available to help answer these, and many more questions during "Walk-in Advising" hours.  Ask an advising intern about any of the following issues:

  • Settling into Campus Life
  • Using the E-Campus registration system
  • Tips on good study habits
  • Getting involved on Campus
  • Discussing roommate problems
  • Advice on how to best utilize campus services
  • Referrals to on-campus resources and personnel
  • Finding information in the URI Catalog and UC Gen Ed book
  • Directing students to information on the UC Website
  • Referring students to UC Advisors or appropriate UC staff members
  • General Support and Encouragement
