Welcome to Early Alert Services

Early Alert provides individual support and guidance to students who may be struggling with the college experience or other life challenges.  These issues include:

  • Academics
  • Homesickness
  • Trouble Making Friends
  • Substance Abuse
  • Housing Concerns
  • Family Issues

The main goal of Early Alert Services is to help students to be successful at URI through individual guidance and the collaboration of campus resources. Early Alert staff reach out to students to discuss the issues they may be facing and to devise a strategy to help address these issues.  Students may continue to meet with our staff on a regular basis, be referred to other services or offices on campus, or decide that they have received sufficient information after the first meeting.  All conversations with students are confidential.

Faculty, staff, peers and family members play a vital role in student success. As you notice students struggling academically, socially, or personally, it is important to refer these students to the Early Alert for assistance. Students are welcomed and encouraged to contact the office directly if they have a need.

Referrals from staff/faculty, family members, peers and students themselves may be done via telephone, email, or in person. Referrals to Early Alert may be kept confidential.
