Name: Amy Maas

Short Bio: I received my undergraduate degree in Biology at Hiram College in her home state of Ohio. After one year of Masters study, I transitioned into being a first year PhD student for next year. Working with Dr. Brad Seibel in the Biology Department, I intends to study ocean acidification and its effects on pelagic gastropods.

Name: Cristin Ashmankas
Title: Past President
Short Bio: Cristin is a third year PhD student at URI's Graduate School of Oceanography. She is in the Geological Oceanography department specializing in determining the paleo ice coverage of the Arctic Ocean. In addition to being a full-time graduate student and president of the GAU she is also a member of the AAUP's committee on graduate and professional students. She holds a BS in Physics and Marine Geophysics from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL.

Short Bio: I am a second year student in the Department of Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. I come from Xavier University where I received a BS in Mathematics. I am currently the Graduate Student Association (GSA) President and the Graduate Assistants United (GAU) Treasurer.

Name: Lillie Langlois
Title: Secretary
Short Bio: I am in my third and final year of a masters program in the Dept. of Natural Resources Science. My bachelors degree was obtained at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2004. My first year at URI was spent in Munich, Germany flying birds in a windtunnel to quantify the effects of dietary nutrients on flight energetics. More recently, I have switched gears to a captive study here at URI focused on quantifying the nutrient requirements of passerine birds during several stages of their annual cycle. For the past year, I have been a senator and active member of Graduate Student Association (GSA) and have also served as a steward for Graduate Assistants United (GAU).

Name: Yafei Yang
Title: Vice President
Short Bio: Yafei Yang is a third year Ph.D. student in the Department of Electrical Computer and Biomedical Engineering. His current role is vice president of GAU and webmaster of Graduate Student Association (GSA). He is also the site manager of graduate village, working with 300 graduate students and their families from different countries. He hopes to continue his work and strive for more benefits for all graduate assistants. He wants to thank everyone for considering him for vice president of GAU.
