The GAU is very involved with the political activities within the state in several ways. The State Budget is carefully examined to deternine it's effect on the University, faculty and students. Legislation that is submitted is monitored and testimony is given in support or opposition. The GAU particpates in supporting candidates to political office that share the same values as other graduate assistant unions - where equality, justice and the common good prevail and where people have access to education, health care, and a job that provides income to support themselves and their families at appropriate levels.
