Community Service
URI 101, Section 4

An important component of your URI 101 experience is participation in a community service project. Your participation in this project is worth 15% of your course grade.

For this year's community service, you will be participating in the March to End Violence in Children's Lives, sponsored by the South Kingstown School Department and Women's Resource Center of South County. Transportation will be provided by the Feinstein Center.

The March will take place on Sunday, October 22. Meet in front of Butterfield Hall no later than 1:00pm. You should eat prior to leaving for the event.

When you arrive, you will help make signs and posters for the event. The march itself is 1.5 miles long -- so wear walking shoes!

In addition to your participation in the walk, you must complete journal exercises pre-participation (due Oct 22 BEFORE the Walk) and post-participation (due Oct 25). These journals will be emailed to your mentors. Carefully read the instructions and submit them on time.
