Early Alert
WELCOME! As students make the transition to URI, they will have many new and exciting experiences! Inevitably, some challenges will cross their path that may include:

- College academics
- Commuting
- Time management
- Struggling with the transition to URI
- Not involved in any campus activities or organizations
- Not going to class or skipping class frequently
- Not studying
- Not leaving their room
- Unhappy or seem withdrawn
- Home sick
- Having personal issues
- Dealing with a substance abuse concern
University College has a new program called Early Alert, which provides individual support and guidance to students who are facing these challenges.
The main goal of the Early Alert is to help students make a successful transition to URI through individual guidance and the collaboration of campus resources.
Faculty, staff, peers and family members play a vital role in the transition process. As you notice students struggling academically, socially, or personally, it is important to refer these students to the Early Alert for assistance. Students are welcomed and encouraged to refer themselves to the office if they recognize a need.
Referrals from staff/faculty, family members, peers and students themselves may be done via online form, telephone or email. Conversations with the Early Alert staff are confidential.
