Welcome...
...to the Office of International Education and National
Exchange. Below is a brief synopsis of our programs and
departments:
The Office of International Education (OIE) offers its students the
opportunity to study in more than 200 affiliated study abroad programs in
over 40 different countries. Through these programs students can develop
some of the skills needed to compete in the global market place while
pursuing life-changing personal experiences, as well as fulfilling
required academic program components at URI.
The National Student Exchange (NSE) provides opportunities for you to
study for up to one calendar year, at another NSE member college or
university. With more than 170 colleges and universities from which to
choose, URI students should be able to find a campus with just the right
combination of courses, facilities, and environment to meet their personal
and academic needs and interests. NSE opportunities extend beyond the
borders of the United States to include U.S. territories, as well as Canadian provinces.
As the emphasis on gaining practical experience prior to graduation
increases, so does students' interest in internships. Students at URI can
access many different types of international internship opportunities
through the Office of International Education
The Office of International Students and Scholars (ISS) provides required
immigration documents and problem-solving assistance to all undergraduate
and graduate students, scholars, and their dependents. This department
responds to questions from individuals and from academic departments
concerning US government and foreign agencies, embassies, consulates and
sponsors. The ISS also provides sponsors various programs throughout the
year for the URI community.
To help visiting exchange students have a smooth transition to life at
URI, the Office of International Education & National Student Exchange
has compiled information to facilitate this process. This page is intended
for students that will be attending URI as a visiting exchange student
through a formal program agreement between URI institution and
institutions throughout the U.S. or abroad.
