2015 RI Construction Career Days a Huge Success!
By offering hands-on activities, this year's RICCD gave 1,000 Rhode Island high school students their first opportunities to do some pretty exciting stuff. Stuff like operating backhoes, welding, sheet metal work, bridge building contests and a lot more. All mentored and presented by the scores of volunteer professionals from the transportation and public works industries.

Research Proposals
Proposals for funding transportation research projects for fiscal year 2016 were given April 10th. Stay tuned for the resulting awards.

Summer Programs Gearing Up!
The Transportation Center is currently gearing up for this summer's programs. We offer two 2 week sessions of the Summer Transportation Institute for middle school students.

We also offer one week academies in Business, Construction, Engineering, Landscape Architecture and Maritime Freight. All academies are run by URI faculty and staff and introduce high school students to more specific career paths in transportation.

About the Center
The URI Transportation Center was established in 1999 at the University of Rhode Island to conduct multidisciplinary education, research, technology transfer and outreach for surface transportation systems and advanced transportation infrastructure. The Center is supported by the US Department of Transportation through the University Transportation Centers Program.
