Engineering Career Day
Introducing high school freshman, sophomores, and juniors to career opportunities in the field of civil engineering through hands on and classroom activities. Sponsored by Rhode Island's leading engineering companies, educators and employers.

Students divide into groups and visit learning labs, where they discover different aspects of civil engineering through hands-on activities. Click on the images below to view photos from previous years' learning labs.

2011 ECD Bridge Building Contest
On Friday, May 20th, the URI Transportation Center, Rhode Island Consulting Engineers, and the RI Department of Transportation will sponsor a bridge building contest as part of the 5th Annual Engineering Career Day event . Rhode Island high schools participating in the Engineering Career Day may register for this contest.

Students will work in teams to design and build a bridge before the day of the event. The materials needed, including balsa wood, glue, glue gun and design specifications, will be provided. The URITC will also provide guidance to each group, answering any questions the teacher or students might have.
