Getting Started
If your computer has a wireless card built in, use the following directions to connect to URI and the internet.
If you are using a Windows laptop, as opposed to Macintosh or Linux, a network icon will appear in the system tray in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Click the balloon and you will be presented with a list of SSIDs (Service Set Identifier). Pick the "Student" SSID and your wireless card will associate (connect) with one of the wireless access points provided by the university. You may see other SSIDs, but the university cannot guarantee network connectivity on them.
If your computer did not come with a built in wireless card, you need to install one. Simply follow the product instructions for installing it and the driver (Windows will have drivers for more popular wireless cards). |
