Definitions

SEXUAL ASSAULT: A continuum of criminal and wrongful acts that includes all levels of non-consensual sexual contact, including when one is unconscious, intoxicated, or otherwise unable to give consent.

RAPE: Forced sexual intercourse. A form of sexual assault, wherein coerced, manipulated, or unwanted penetration (oral, anal, vaginal) occurs against one's will and without one's consent, including when one is unconscious, intoxicated, or otherwise unable to give consent.

DATE/ACQUAINTANCE RAPE: A rape committed by someone known to the victim (boyfriend, girlfriend, friend, classmate, or acquaintance). Up to 87% of rapes fall into this category.

STALKING: A course of conduct which is repeated and would cause a person to suffer emotional distress and/or be in fear of bodily injury. Acts included following and/or unwanted in-person contact or contact via mail, phone, or email.

RELATIONSHIP VIOLENCE: Violent or controlling behavior by a person toward an intimate partner, including a wife, girlfriend, or lover. Relationship violence includes physical and sexual violence. Relationship violence may also be non-physical, with the batterer controlling the victim with threats of harm, emotional, or psychological abuse.

Signs that you may have been drugged:

Feeling a lot more intoxicated than your usual response to the amount of alcohol consumed.

Waking up very hung over, feeling “fuzzy,” experiencing memory lapses, and an inability to account for a period of time.

Remembering taking a drink, but unable to recall what happened for a period of time after you consumed the drink.

Feeling as if someone had sex with you, but not remembering part or all of the incident.
