The Vietnam Memorial, comprised of three granite benches, is located outside of Keaney Gym.  Dedicated in April 1996, the benches honor the 18 men, who had attended, graduated, or worked at the University and who lost their lives in the Vietnam War:

  • Capt. Robert G. Burlingham,
  • Capt. Robert L. Mosher,
  • Capt. Henry R. Phillips,
  • 1st Lt. Parker D. Kramer,
  • 1st Lt. Daniel R. Dye,
  • 1st Lt. Carmen DeCubellis Jr.,
  • Sgt. Danny V. Scurfield,
  • Sgt. Dennis W. Webster,
  • Spc. 4 Antonio L. Moretti,
  • Spc. 4 Paul F. Little,
  • Lt. j.g. Edward B. Shaw,
  • Maj. Walter J. Decota,
  • 1st LT. Carl W. Myllymaki III,
  • 1st Lt. Charles J. Yaghoobian Jr.,
  • 2nd Lt. William G. Schanck Jr., and
  • Capt. Edward A. LaPierre.

Lt. Col. Richard S. Schott’s name was added in 2004. The stunningly simple, but elegant memorial was the result of fund-raising efforts by Richard Smith of Westerly who was a friend and classmate of Carl Myllymaki who is among those honored.
