Many could be organized into the following categories:<br><br>\u2022 The Three Stooges<br>\u2022 \u201cShave and a haircut, two bits.\u201d<br>\u2022 The \u201csnip-snip here, snip-snip there and a couple of tra-la-las\u201d grooming scene from the <em>Wizard of Oz<\/em><br><br>In fact, this photo (dated Dec. 20, 1954) shows Edward Rawdon, URI barber and honorary alumnus, getting his hair clipped by URI\u2019s fifth president, Carl Woodward (center, behind Rawdon) and two other men. The February 1955 <em>Alumni Bulletin<\/em> says that Rawdon received the \u201cPresidential Special\u201d hair clipping in celebration of his retirement \u201cafter 50 years of clipping academic heads, among them five Rhody presidents.\u201d The<em> Bulletin<\/em> goes on to say that Rawdon \u201cmade himself a place at the heart of campus that cannot be filled.\u201d \u2022<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Presidential Special This photo (summer 2021) inspired lots of captions.
