{"id":57443,"date":"2015-08-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/uri-students-alumni-to-sing-at-boston-symphony-orchestra-chorus-festival\/"},"modified":"2015-08-14T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-14T00:00:00","slug":"uri-students-alumni-to-sing-at-boston-symphony-orchestra-chorus-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2015\/08\/uri-students-alumni-to-sing-at-boston-symphony-orchestra-chorus-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"URI students, alumni to sing at Boston Symphony Orchestra Chorus Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\t<b>To perform at Tanglewood<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nKINGSTON, R.I.\u2013 August 14, 2015\u2013 Two students and three alumni of the University of Rhode Island\u2019s Music and Chorus Department have been performing at the Boston Symphony Orchestra Festival Chorus at Tanglewood.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nTheir final two performances will be today Aug. 14 and Sunday Aug. 16 on the Tanglewood grounds, 297 West St. Lenox, Mass., 01240.  <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nToday\u2019s concert will be at 6 p.m. in Ozawa Hall. The URI representatives will be part of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus\u2019 prelude concert, including pieces by Bach, Barber, Brahms, and Copland.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nSunday\u2019s performance will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Koussevitzky Music Shed. The program includes Copland\u2019s Symphonic Ode and Beethoven\u2019s 9th Symphony. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tMark Conley, professor of music at URI, has taught all five URI performers: students Christopher Davey of Cranston and Andrew Gribbin of Coventry, and alumni Ryan Casperson \u201814, Devon Morin \u201812, and Celia Tafuri \u201912. They performed in URI\u2019s Concert Choir and Lively Experiment, an a capella ensemble that performs a wide variety of music. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cAll of us really care about the music department at URI, it gave a lot to us,\u201d said Morin. \u201cWe are proud to be representing the University and its wonderful music programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tLast year Davey was chosen to sing the National Anthem at a Red Sox game on Rhode Island Day.
