\nWHO: \tGov. Donald Carcieri, Sen. Jack Reed, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, University of Rhode Island President Robert L. Carothers, URI Vice \t\t\tPresident Robert Weygand, URI Dean Jeff Seemann, R.I. Board of Governors for Higher Education Chairman Frank Caprio, \t\t\t\trepresentatives from the biotechnology industry, and URI faculty, staff and students.<\/p>\n


\nWHAT: \tA ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the URI Center for \tBiotechnology and Life Sciences, the largest classroom and research building project in the history of the University of Rhode Island. The celebration will showcase the 140,000 square-foot center, which houses teaching and research laboratories, high-tech facilities for DNA sequencing, a 100-seat classroom, a 300-seat auditorium, \t\t\t\tclassrooms and faculty offices. The event will include a 40-minute speaking program, a brief ribbon cutting ceremony, and self-guided \t\t\ttours of the building.<\/p>\n


\nWHEN: \tMonday, January 26 at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n


\nWHERE: \t120 Flagg Rd., on the URI Kingston campus. Parking will be available in the Chafee parking lot, just west of the Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences.<\/p>\n
