Carothers Library and Learning Commons at the University of Rhode Island will display reproductions of 19th century architectural lighthouse drawings in the Library Gallery through May 29.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe exhibit, \u201cVariations In Lighthouse Design,\u201d features reproduced draft drawings of 19th century Rhode Island and Connecticut lighthouses.  Some of the drawings display proposed plans that never materialized into lighthouses. A few drawings show lighthouses that have remained unseen by the public because of their isolated location, such as Whale Rock in Narragansett Bay.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tA narrative discussing the geographical location, lens classification, and style of the lighthouse accompanies each of the 20 drawings.  Some drawings were retrieved from U.S. Coast Guard archives. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe display\u2019s sponsor, Breakwater Preservation Conservancy, is making all drawings available for purchase.
