{"id":66035,"date":"2007-11-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news-draft\/uncategorized\/living-in-the-providence-mall-performance-as-art\/"},"modified":"2007-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2007-11-30T00:00:00","slug":"living-in-the-providence-mall-performance-as-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uri.edu\/news\/2007\/11\/living-in-the-providence-mall-performance-as-art\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Living in the Providence Mall: Performance as Art\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"press-release-import\">\n\t\tURI honors class to host discussion Dec. 4<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tKINGSTON, R.I. \u2013November 30, 2007\u2014Local artists Michael Townsend and Adriana Yoto captured nationwide attention this fall when it was revealed that they and six artistic collaborators had been living since 2003 in a luxury apartment they built in an empty storage area above the parking garage in the Providence Place Mall. <\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tTownsend and Yoto will participate in a discussion at the University of Rhode Island Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 11 .am to 12: 15 p.m. in the Galanti Lounge of the URI Library, 15 Lippitt Road, Kingston. It is expected that the artists will show video clips of them building their apartment and living in the mall. The presentation is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\u201cThe artists\u2019 appearance at URI was initiated by my students who pursued every aspect, including tracking the artists down and staying in touch with them,\u201d says Philosophy Professor Galen Johnson.
