As anchor of John King, USA, and chief national correspondent for CNN, John King is one of the world’s most-watched and influential broadcasters. And he got his start at URI. From covering the September 11 attacks and breaking the story of Osama Bin Laden’s death to reporting in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the South Asian tsunami, John King has been there to tell the story.

How did he get there? A URI class on the Middle East conflict made him curious about the world. A URI Shakespeare professor noticed he liked to write and suggested journalism. And some URI journalism professors helped him get the internship with the Associated Press that ultimately led to his first full-time journalism job, which started before he even received his degree.

At URI, John King was inspired to think big. And for him, that meant a remarkable journey from Dorchester, Massachusetts, to all 50 states, six presidential campaigns, two wars, 80 countries, and beyond.
