Cotinus obovatus

American Smoketree

Small tree or large shrub with rounded crown. Bluish green alternate leaves are 2-5" long and half as wide. Good fall foliage color of red and purple to orange. "Smoky" flower panicles are greenish white. Prefers full to partial sun. Tolerates dry soil and high pH. Native to Southern US. 25-30'.
