Common Witchhazel

Large shrub or small tree with an irregular open crown. Bright green leaves turn yellow in fall. Fragrant yellow flowers with four strap-like petals open as early as December or January. Smooth grayish bark. Full sun or part shade, prefers moist soil. Native to RI. 20-25' x 15-20'.
