The URI Chinese Program:

Summer Study Options

The URI Chinese Program offers a number of opportunities for students to study the language in the summer.  Students can opt to enroll in Chinese language courses in Kingston during the regular URI Summer Sessions; to participate in a 4-week language and culture program at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China; or to complete an 8-week Chinese Flagship Immersion Program at URI in Kingston.

Students who wish to complete the equivalent of two semesters of Chinese in just one summer are encouraged to consider the following:

  • Take CHN 101, 103, or 205 during URI Summer Session 1 (May 19 - June 20, 2014), AND take CHN 112, 114, or 216 in the Chinese Summer School in Hangzhou (July 2 - August 1, 2014).
  • Apply to the 8-week Chinese Flagship Immersion Program at URI in Kingston (May 26 - July 18, 2014). This program is designed for first-year Flagship students, currently enrolled in CHN 112H, but is open to any student at the Novice High/Intermediate Low level interested in a proficiency-based language learning experience.
