The University College and General Education Committee considered the following matters at their meeting of May 1, 2003. They are now presented to the Faculty Senate for confirmation.

Revised General Education Program (2001)

A. English Communication: Writing Core Area (ECw)

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the following courses for the ECw) area of the revised General Education Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity designation:

WRT 227 (writing effectively, speaking effectively, using qualitative data, using informational technology)

WRT 302 (using artistic activity, writing effectively, using informational technology)

WRT 304 (examining human differences, writing effectively, using informational technology, using qualitative data) Diversity

B. Letters Core Area (L)

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the following courses for the (L) area of the revised General Education Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity designation:

HIS 111 (reading complex texts, speaking effectively, writing effectively, using qualitative data)

HIS 146 (examining human differences, reading complex texts, writing effectively) Diversity

PHL 210 (examining human differences, reading complex texts, using qualitative data) Diversity

PHL 215 (reading complex texts, writing effectively, using information technology, using qualitative data)

PHL 314 (reading complex texts, speaking effectively, writing effectively, using qualitative data)

PHL 323 (examining human differences, reading complex texts, using qualitative data) Diversity

PHL 346 (reading complex texts, writing effectively, using qualitative data)

PHL 355 (reading complex texts, speaking effectively, writing effectively, using artistic activity)

RLS 111 (examining human differences, reading complex texts, using qualitative data) Diversity

C. Social Sciences Core Area (S)

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the following courses for the (S) area of the revised General Education Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity designation:

PSY 232 (examining human differences, writing effectively, using qualitative data) Diversity
