School of Education

Undergraduate Applicants

Greetings, potential undergraduate applicants:

Thank you for your interest in a Teacher Education program at the University of Rhode Island! There are now two routes for admission to the School of Education:

  1. The Teacher Education Scholar Program, enabling students meeting specific test score and academic requirements to be admitted directly into most of our education programs.

About the Teacher Education Scholar Program

  2. Traditional admission occurs at the end of January each year for sophomores or juniors. Transfer students are welcome. This option includes an admission portfolio and an interview. Students who have met initial admissions criteria (i.e GPA and testing requirements) outside of this application period, please contact Ms. Annie Kammerer at (401) 874-5252, or agkammerer@uri.edu to explore possible options for application. Our goal is to assure that students who are eligible for application will, if accepted, be able to avoid a delay of their completion date.

    About the Traditional Application Process

Whichever option is the appropriate fit for you, we are eager to support your exploration of the teaching profession. Please make an appointment with the appropriate advisor at University College through e-campus so that you are assured accurate and timely information as you map out first semesters at URI. You are aspiring to a challenging and fulfilling career working with young people, and we hope to help you reach that goal.

Best wishes,

Annie G. Kammerer
