Research Interests:
As a licensed practitioner in Family Psychology my primary research interest is investigating factors in the therapy process that lead to more successful outcomes for couples and families. I have a particular interest in two related areas that inform this research. One is an understanding of how some couples sustain high degrees of happiness throughout their relationship, while others end up divorcing. A second is the impact of adolescent substance abuse on families.

As a teacher and trainer of family therapists I am also actively investigating the skills needed to be an effective teacher of family clinicians and the role of supervision in developing the skills of emerging professionals.
