Scenes from International Engineering

The International Engineering Program

Thank you for showing interest in the International Engineering Program (IEP) at the University of Rhode Island! The IEP is the nation's most distinctive plan for global preparation of engineers. The Program leads the student simultaneously to two degrees: a B.S. in engineering and a B.A. in German, French, Spanish or a minor in Chinese and Asian Studies.

The IEP student studies a foreign language and culture each semester along with an engineering curriculum. In the fourth year of the five-year program the student goes abroad; the first semester spent taking language, culture and engineering courses in the host language, and the second semester as an intern with a reputable engineering firm. The internship is paid!

Because of the rapid expansion of global business, IEP graduates are in high demand. The program boasts close to a 100% job placement rate after graduating.

For a packet of information mailed to you, fill out this form HERE. To talk with current students, to see either of the two on-campus living community houses just for IEP students (with a full-time chef!), or to schedule an appointment with an IEP advisor, call or email us today!

President's Endorsement

"The ability to communicate in more than one language is, I think, critical in a world that is both flat, in terms of opportunity, and round in terms of its connectivity. We already see this advantage in the International Engineering Program at URI, ..."
