Bio
JOHN MONLLOS teaches Jazz Guitar, History of Jazz, Music Appreciation, and directs the Studio/Jazz Ensemble at the University of Rhode Island. In addition to teaching at URI, he is the Guitar Instructor at Salve Regina University and St. George's School. He also maintains a private guitar studio in Newport, RI.
John was a member of the United States Navy Band. He officially retired from the Navy Band after 20 years of service in September, 2006. John has toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States. He has appeared on national television with a featured jazz spot on the News Program "Fox and Friends," and as the conductor of the Navy's Ceremonial Band on ABC's "Good Morning America." He also appeared with the Boston Pops (June 2006) as a guitarist with the Navy's Showband.
John performs regularly throughout New England with Los Gatos, Jazz Candy, Caribbean Candy, Lois Vaughan Jazz and with numerous private bands. He is a graduate of the University of Miami Jazz Program and received his Master of Music from the University of Rhode Island in December 2007. John relased his first album as leader in August 2008 entitled Shadow's Dance.
