The Carol A. Horridge Award was established in 2008 by a group of ASL members in recognition of the positive impact the late Carol Horridge made at the URI Providence campus. This award is given each year to an alumnus/alumna member that has achieved certain goals, which includes, but is not limited to: educational and professional advancement, community involvement, and leadership roles assumed after college.

This year’s CAROLE A. HORRIDGE AWARD was presented to Mr. Lance C. McCormack, a URI/FCCE alumna and nationally certified hypnotist with a degree in Finance, Psychology, and Master's studies in Counseling with a Concentration in Chemical Dependency. Mr. McCormack runs his own small business (LIFE FORCE HYPNOSIS, LLC) tackling the largest of human challenges every day, working with clients daily in a collaborative effort to affect positive change. This award is presented to an active member of URI’s Alpha Sigma Lambda, Epsilon Rho Chapter who has shown consistent dedication to education, leadership within their profession and involvement in community activities.

In order to ascertain which of our active members are potential recipients for this award, we have created a survey, and every year the Board reviews all survey submitted to determine the best candidate. We strongly encourage all members to download, complete and mail it to the URI Providence Campus. The award is presented at the Annual Induction Ceremony held in the Spring.
