Jayne Richmond, Ph.D.,
Dean of University College and Special Academic Programs.
As a new student you may have many questions. You might wonder about your choice of major, how to get involved in experiential learning like internships and service, how to make international experiences an important part of your learning, and how to do it all while achieving academic success. That is what University College is all about.
We are the home to all first and second year students. We provide full time professional advisors who specialize in working with students who are undeclared in their major (our motto is "No Major? No Problem!"). We also provide special advising for student athletes and for students who have learning challenges. Faculty from all majors come to University College to meet with their majors in the first two years, after which students will matriculate into the college from which they will graduate. And University College is where you will come to get help with all your learning needs such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, study skills workshops and more. It is all free and students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the wonderful resources we offer.
More than anything, University College is dedicated to being a warm and welcoming place for all students. Our mission is to Welcome, Challenge, Support and Care about students. Please come by Roosevelt Hall and meet with our peer mentors, advisors, and staff and see how we can help you to have a great transition to college and successful graduation from college. Welcome!
