Professor Emeritus Bernice Lott was awarded the 2012 American Psychological Association's Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest, Senior Career Award

This award recognizes an individual whose single extraordinary achievement or a lifetime of outstanding contributions have met one or more of the following criteria:courageous and distinctive contribution(s) in the science or practice of psychology that significantly supports efforts toward a solution to one of the worlds intransigent social problems; distinctive and innovative contribution(s) that makes the science and/or practice of psychology more accessible to a broad and diverse population; and an integration of the science and practice of psychology that serves the public interest and advances social justice and human welfare. David Cherry, School Psychology Graduate Student

"I am a second year graduate student in the School Psychology Master's program at the University of Rhode Island. As an undergraduate Talent Development student and Psychology major, I was a research assistant at the Cancer Prevention Research Center under Dr. Susan Boatright-Horowitz and received the Noreen Coachman Leadership Award in Psychology and the Outstanding Contributions to Psychology Senior Award of 2009."
