Congratulations to Wayne Velicer - the 2013 winner of the Samuel J. Messick Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award. This award is presented annually to honor an individual who has a long and distinguished history of scientific contributions within the areas of Division 5: assessment, evaluation, measurement, research methods, and/or statistics. The Award will be presented in the Division 5 Award Symposium at the 2013 Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association, which this year is being held in Honolulu Hawaii from July 31 to August, 4.



Future Counselors of America has recently launched a $1000 scholarship to undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Psychology who seek a career in relationship counseling or a related field. Applicants will be judged based on academic achievement and a minimum 500- to maximum 900-word essay entitled "The Psychology of Online Dating." Click here for more information on this opportunity!

Professor Emeritus Bernice Lott was awarded the 2012 American Psychological Association's Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest, Senior Career Award

This award recognizes an individual whose single extraordinary achievement or a lifetime of outstanding contributions have met one or more of the following criteria:courageous and distinctive contribution(s) in the science or practice of psychology that significantly supports efforts toward a solution to one of the worlds intransigent social problems; distinctive and innovative contribution(s) that makes the science and/or practice of psychology more accessible to a broad and diverse population; and an integration of the science and practice of psychology that serves the public interest and advances social justice and human welfare. Introducing our Current Student Spotlight, Elizabeth-Ann R. Viscione!

Elizabeth-Ann is a sophomore Psychology major and Italian minor. She has been involved in the field of mental health since the age of 14 by working as an administrative and research assistant at The Institute for the Study and Treatment of Loss in Warwick, RI.
