Semi-evergreen suckering shrub. Leathery dark green leaves are aromatic when crushed. Gray waxy berries on stems in fall which persist through winter. Grows in poor sandy soil, tolerates salt and salt spray. Adaptable, full sun to part shade. Native to RI. 5-12’ x 5-12’ or more, but lower growing immediately adjacent to coast.
