Rhus glabra

Smooth Sumac

Large suckering spreading shrub. Very long compound leaves are dark green above, whitish below on thick stems. Greenish yellow flowers bloom in summer. Small red fruits in large upright clusters in fall, persisting through winter. Full sun. Tolerates poor dry soil. Cold hardy. Native to RI. 10-15’ x 10-15’.
