URI Grounds employs a crew staffed by Groundskeepers, Sr. Gardeners, Arborists, Heavy equipment operators, and also student workers. Among these workers include a five person crew dedicated to athletics area grounds and sportsfield management. The URI campus includes a 6-mile road network and an ever increasing network of walkways stretching over 13 miles. The Grounds department is responsible to maintain all areas of the Kingston campus, including portions of East and Peckam Farms. Campus duties include: ground and road repairs, litter control, snow removal, mowing, trimming, tree work, planting/pruning flowers and shrubs, lawn fertilizing and weed control, sportsfield management and event support. Grounds works closely with students, faculty and staff to offer advice and expertise on numerous beautification initiatives on campus.
Please help us in keeping our campus clean. DO NOT LITTER, and, if you see litter on the ground, kindly pick it up and place it in a trash receptacle. THANK YOU!!!
